Role:The Gastrointestinal and Inflammation (GI2) Drug Discovery
Unit at Takeda is building a new team of experienced, innovative,
and collaborative researchers to deliver an industry-leading
portfolio of drugs for various gastrointestinal, autoimmune, and
inflammatory diseases. We seek skilled bench scientists to join our
cross-functional discovery teams.
- Generate and execute preclinical development strategies to
support candidate selection and mechanistic characterization,
facilitating efficient clinical validation of impactful medicines
for patients with inflammatory and autoimmune disorders.
- Begins at the conception of new projects.
- Apply deep scientific expertise in immunology and/or cell
biology to creatively mature innovative novel concepts within our
team, in matrixed collaboration with other Takeda scientists, and
external partners.
- Drive an inclusive, open, and effective culture in a
fast-growing drug discovery group.Accountabilities:
- Design, perform, and interpret in vitro and ex vivo studies to
evaluate drug candidate mechanisms of action.
- Generate data packages supporting candidate selection and asset
characterization, leveraging subject matter expertise, technical
literature, and awareness of current industry standards.
- Champion scientific integrity and rigor in data analysis,
preparation, and interpretation of detailed protocols/SOPs and
technical reports.
- Collaborate productively within a matrixed structure, clearly
communicate results, challenges, and impact in presentations and
conversations with broad audiences. Integrate data generated from
other disciplines.Education & Competencies (Technical and
Behavioral):
- PhD degree with 2+ years industry experience, or MS with 8+
years' experience, or BS with 10+ years' experience.
- Preferred 6+ years of industry experience.
- Proven track record in inflammation research and solving
complex biology problems; experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease
research is a plus.
- Strong experimental design, troubleshooting, and data analysis
skills are required.
- Strong expertise in molecular biology and/or immunology with
strong technical skills that include development of cell-based and
biochemical assays; required skills include gene editing (CRISPR or
siRNA), cell culture including work with primary immune cells,
cytokine analysis (AlphaLISA, MSD, ELISA), and flow cytometry.
- Experience developing in vitro assays characterizing small
molecule and biologics potency and mechanism of action.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the
ability to work effectively in a highly-matrixed environment.
- Keeps up with the latest scientific advancement and literature
(e.g. competitive landscape, new technology).This position is

Compensation and Benefits SummaryWe understand compensation is an

MAU.S. Base Salary Range:$137,000.00 - $215,270.00The estimated
salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The
actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors,
including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the
position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills,
level of education attained, certifications or other professional
licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or
from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary
offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage
requirements for the job location.U.S. based employees may be
eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives. U.S. based
employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision
