Merchandising Analyst II



Adecco is currently assisting a local client in their search for an experienced Merchandising Analyst in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. This position is a long-term temporary assignment job opportunity. The Merchandising Analyst II will be responsible for providing detailed business analysis to the Seasonal Category Management Team(s) Analysis will include sales, margin, retail pricing, promotional markdowns and trending of both internal and market level data. This position is also responsible for performing root cause analysis, problem resolution, category research, space productivity and identifying potential strategic opportunities. The position will coordinate work streams related to item selection and set up; promotional, seasonal and off-shelf activities; vendor communication; strategic insight development; and reporting. Responsibilities for the Merchandising Analyst are the following:



Quantitative Analysis: Collaborate with the Category Management Team(s) to scope and plan any and all financial and quantitative analyses that will aid in day-to-day management of the business and yield critical answers to longer-term strategic questions. Run ad hoc analysis upon request and provide actionable insights with recommendations for next steps



Product Management: Run Daily sales, seasonal reporting, weekly vendor reporting and analyze market data to assist in decision making. In addition,


o Partner with Category Management teams to build promotional plans and activities related to everyday and seasonal businesses.


o Attend seasonal budget meetings and partner with store design to develop plans that optimize sales/ margin productivity


o Work with Category Management teams to assist with item selection and coordinate all billing and end of cycle disposition.


o New Item set up and maintenance for planogram and mid-year items.


o Off-Shelf coordination of off-shelf programs with key suppliers, setting up programs and running off-shelf reporting.


o Oversee price change activities.



Communication Development & Business Reporting: Communicate effectively, both verbally and on paper, to Merchandising and Cross-Functional teams throughout the organization. Assist with communication and reporting on sales performance, seasonal sales and sell thru and promotional plans. Support the development of presentations for mid-level and senior executives.




Candidates must meet the following requirements for consideration:



o Advanced data analysis skills, excel at Power Point, Excel, Acess and beneficial if candidate has experience writing SQL queries to pull information from complex data environments.


o Ability to translate stakeholders' requests into data analysis and to clearly communicate analytical needs and results. Must be able to determine the most critical data elements to include in reporting and analysis.


o Must be able to identify implications of analyses, determine their impact on strategy and recommend a course of action.


o BA Degree or equivalent retail/analytical experience.




This position is considered full time/ 40 hours a week.



Pay for this position is based on experience. This is a long term temporary assignment- December 2014 to December 2015.
